Little Foxes that spoil the vine !!!
It has been a busy couple of weeks, where unexpected, annoying, small, and frustrating interruptive things have been taking our time and energy and sometimes our attitude! The Bible talks of “little foxes that spoil the vine” (SSolomon 2:15) 
It got me thinking and praying, because I am sure “ol hairy legs” is up to the same tricks all over the place.
We don’t even have foxes here in New Zealand, but my understanding is that they are cunning, stealthy, dog lie animals who look innocent, work in packs, are hard to detect if you do not know what you are looking for, and they always strike and take advantage once the hard work has been done.. According to scripture, they have a liking for grapes and vines, taking advantage of the low hanging blossom & tender young fruit, doing damage to the vines, so the rest of crop falters.
Right now is almost grape harvest time in New Zealand, and if you drive past the vineyards they are draped in netting to keep the birds away from the laden vines while allowing the sunshine to do the final ripening . The farmers are vigilant (although thankfuly they do not have to deal with actual foxes here), but many other variables as they bring their crop to harvest.
The anaolgy in John 15 is for us to also bear fruit, and right at harvest time it is the most vulnerable.
I am the vine you are the branches whoever lives in Me and I in him bears abundant fruit. If you live in Me (abide vitally united with Me) and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will and it shall be done for you… John 15:7 amp
My encouragement to you is to be alert for these irritating distractions, seeing them for what they are, while keeping up your guard against the enemy, who is ‘cunning as a fox’
These distractions may come both internally and externally
- Cirumstances of life
- Work ethics, Personal ethics,
- Attitudes
- Spiritual, Emotional, Relational
Be Alert.. Apathy creates space for cunning foxes, while engagement( with God and others who encourage and pray with you in business) brings alertness, help, and faith.
