Truth

Yesterday we had an opportunity to hear apologist Brett Kunkle fromStand to Reason.  He spoke about tolerance and what that looks like from different perspectives. He also provided a few different tactics in defending our faith which were really insightful. He suggested that one of the most important questions we can ask, is “What is truth?”.

This is a great reminder that as we navigate our daily lives, we are constantly bombarded by other people’s viewpoints and “relative” truths about different situations we find ourselves in. It can be easy to be distracted by what’s going on around us as we are absorbed by another day of making ends meet. We can even start to believe some things people are saying about us and to us. This can eventually form part of our identity.

This made me realise the importance of what we choose to fill our minds with. As followers of Christ our identity is in Christ. We also have a whole book full of truths. Things like God loves us, He will never leave us or forsake us, We are created in His image etc.

God has spoken truth over every situation, so I’d encourage you, no matter what you’re facing today, to proclaim the truth that we have through Jesus over your life today. If you’re feeling like the world is telling you that you don’t have what it takes – why not check with God’s word – what does He say about you? 🙂

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
